Today, I stood in my kitchen

Today, I stood in my kitchen .. I broke down and cried.

Every moment, I fear for my son’s safety. I want to protect him. I know I can not protect him from “the world”. But, I want to protect him. I could not protect Lucenda from an “incurable” auto-immune disease she was born with that lead to her death. It was horrible watching her slip away before my eyes. I fear what my son will encounter “out there” in the world. I fear what the world is, let alone what will be down the road.

Today, I stood in my kitchen .. I broke down and cried.

I have seen so much hatred from people who claimed they “cared” about us. I have been the subject of numerous direct attacks because I will NOT accept lies to support an “agenda”. I have been called a malicious, hateful person … because I refuse to step aside and let lies and hatred prevail.

Today, I stood in my kitchen .. I broke down and cried.

My heart hurts for the parents who have these fears .. PLUS the fears for their children’s lives just because of their skin color. I looked at my “friends list” recently. My friends are as colorful as the rainbow … some are hard-headed, some are foolish, some are amazingly gifted, some are lovingly caring, some are clueless, some are all the above and more.

Today, I stood in my kitchen .. I broke down and cried.

We are called to to “GO and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Jesus said that the greatest commandment is to “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” And the second is “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
