Comfort Zone … Stability … Security …

How is success measured? What criteria defines success? Who holds the “measuring tape” for success? Who created the rules by which success is determined?

Jesus grew up in the home of a carpenter. Jesus worked closely with Joseph, being trained a skilled carpenter. In their age, children were trained to carry on with the family craft. Society expected Jesus to be a carpenter.

Jesus grew up to carry on His Father’s purpose, God The Father’s Purpose. Jesus did not do what society expected him to do as the “son of a carpenter” should do. Being a carpenter would have meant that Jesus would have had a stable job to provide for his “future” family.

Jesus had no permanent home once He began His ministry. Jesus had no “job” to provide a “reliable” income. Jesus spent many nights “out under the stars.” Jesus traveled. Jesus was rather often “on the move.”

By societal standards, what was Jesus’s “comfort zone, or stability, or security”?

Life is constantly changing, moving. For some, changes are often small. For others, changes are often huge. Yet, for others, changes are random and unpredictable.

When changes happen (both willingly and unwillingly) society “eyes” may make us feel like we are “reinventing ourselves” with each big change. In actuality, we are either “upgrading” our knowledge or “adding on” a new feature/skill to our lives.

We are always changing. We need to accept that and go forward. We go forward with our “upgrades” and our “add-ons” … joyfully and enthusiastically.

My Song (at this point in my life)

MercyMe is a wonderfully Godly group of artists who has shared some amazing songs with the world. “I Can Only Image” is a wonderful song that got them started. For many, it is their “my song“. For me, I have many “songs”.

That being stated ….

Right now .. at this point in my life .. “Say I Won’t” by MercyMe .. is my song.

About Testing GOD

I have read many comments and accounts of … heard numerous people insist that … we should NOT LIVE IN FEAR AND TRUST GOD with regards to COVID. This is followed by them insisting that wearing a mask is “restricting their rights” and that getting the vaccine is “succumbing to the beast” …

I could go into depth regarding the NEED and BENEFIFTS of wearing masks, social distancing, washing of hands (seriously, this is still an issue after centuries), and being vaccinated … however, I won’t.

I am going to address the “Testing of GOD” part.

The people following Moses in along gives us several scriptures regarding the people ‘testing GOD’ in one way or another. (Exodus 15:25; 17:1-7; Numbers 14:22; Deuteronomy 6:16; 9:22) The Book of Psalms references numerous occasions as well (78:18,41,56; 95:8-9; 106:14).

God repeatedly reminded the people to NOT TEST HIM. Yet, they continued to do so. They wailed and whined and complained about what they were having to endure. They wanted GOD to “take care of it” … remove the problem or provide a relief … The New Testament … the time OF and AFTER Jesus walked this earth, there are still more accounts of the people TESTING GOD.

There was that one time when GOD said he would flood the earth. GOD provided a way to survive. Noah told people what was going to happen. The people mocked Noah for his ridiculous notions and foolishness for building a boat in the desert. They refused to believe that getting on that boat would save their lives.

I wonder how many people who refuse to wear a mask, refuse to take proper precautions, refuse to get the vaccine, refuse to think of others … I wonder how many of these people have taken a pain reliever, an allergy med, used cough syrup, been to a medical professional for any reason …

Seek the Truth

One consistent thing I was taught growing up: Seek the truth.
In school, I was taught to read and study.
In church, I was taught to read and study.
In various jobs, I had to read and study.
Research. Learn. Grow. Expand.

When something is “shared” on Social Media. Yes, I research. I look for the truth. When something posted is contrary to truth .. even partial truth, I call it out. I do not sugar coat.
I have been called hateful and malicious and spiteful. While those calling me these things were displaying the very actions they were assigning to me.
I have used the term “christian” with a lowercase c to describe some people recently. People who use the word to defend their actions.
Being CHRIST-like does not involve hatred, or malicious actions. If you put a man, a party, a group, an ideal, a “claim” above demonstrating the Love of CHRIST, you are NOT CHRIST-like. We are called to LOVE one-another .. to support one-another.
Also, God created us each in HIS image. HE gifted each of us with different and special skills and talents. We are PARTS of the body. You cut off part, the body is NOT complete. When the organs of the body do NOT work together for the GOOD of the body, the body does NOT function properly … and can lead to death of the body.
Medical professionals are trained. Law enforcement personnel are trained. Military personnel are trained. A cook is trained. A farmer is trained. EACH of us have our areas of expertise. NONE of us have ALL the answers.
We Are Not GOD!
